After an uneasy alliance, and a brief case of deadness, Hal and Sinestro managed to stop the Guardians' scheme. However, Sinestro of all people recruited his help, making a replica power ring for him to use. However, the Guardians were deeply freaked out (though they won't admit it) by the fact that he overcame his ring's restrictions against killing Guardians, deeming him as a dangerous renegade and ejecting him from the Corps. Now Hal Jordan is a Green Lantern once more, protecting Space Sector 2814 while seeking atonement for his actions under Parallax's influence.Īfter Krona's attempt to take over the Corps using the enslaved emotional entities, Hal managed to kill him. But Jordan's successor, Kyle Rayner-with the help of all his surviving friends from the Corps and the League-defeated the monstrosity and restored Jordan to life. Jordan tried to change the Spectre's mission from vengeance to redemption, but to no avail: Parallax still remained bound to his soul, and the Eldritch Abomination tried to steal the Spectre's power for itself. Jordan's own nobility shone through, however, when Earth's Sun was being devoured by a Sun-Eater, and he gave his life to save his homeworld.Īfter his death, Jordan's soul was offered a chance at redemption: he was bound to the near-omnipotent Spectre, the Spirit of Vengeance. Killing all the Guardians save one, Jordan/Parallax went on a rampage across the universe. The destruction of his native Coast City at the hands of Mongul and Cyborg-Superman was enough to push him over the edge-Jordan rushed to Oa, killed every Lantern that got in his way, and entered the Central Power Battery to gain the power necessary to rebuild Coast City, but was instead possessed by Parallax. Hal's halcyon days ended when the fear entity Parallax, trapped within the Central Power Battery, reached out its psychic tendrils to taint his mind. Coincidentally, in Post-Crisis continuity, Alan Scott wielded this unnamed Chinese man's ring. Earth's original Green Lantern originated in China, and was recruited in 814 B.C. Sinestro, his traitorous former mentor, became his archnemesis.ĭespite common belief, Hal Jordan was not the first human being ever recruited into the Green Lantern Corps. Training under both Kilowog and Sinestro, Jordan went on to become a famed hero on Earth and beyond, helped found the Justice League of America, and rose to the top of the Green Lantern Corps. ![]() Abin bequeathed his ring and power battery to Jordan before dying. Krona already appeared in Green Lantern as the unnamed Guardian who was controlled by Parallax, but for Green Lantern Corps, he needs to be properly identified and implement a revenge plan against the Guardians for banishing him long ago and interfering with his experiments.Species: Human First appearance: Showcase #22 (October 1959)īoth the most famed and most infamous Green Lantern, Hal Jordan was a California test pilot who was summoned to the site where Green Lantern Abin Sur had crashed. ![]() ![]() Whether he's relying solely on his intellect, is manipulating the emotional spectrum or has the powers of Entropy, Krona is not only one of the Green Lantern Corps' most dangerous enemies, but also a threat to the entire DC universe. For instance, remember that glitch that caused the Manhunters to wipe out Sector 666? Krona was the one who programmed in that glitch. His obsession with learning the origins of the universe, along with embracing all emotions unlike the stoic Guardians, resulted in his turn to the dark side to commit horrible acts. Krona is an Maltusian, the same species as the Guardians of the Universe, but while the Guardians usually look after the well-being of all life, Krona is focused on gaining more power for himself. Using the Sinestro Corps in Green Lantern Corps also opens the door to adapt Parallax, the fear entity, correctly this time around. So in his eyes, he sees his Corps as a force for the greater good, making them the perfect foil for the next Green Lantern movie. While most of the Corps are filled with despicable creatures, Sinestro sees his Corps as the only way to instill order throughout the universe, something he believes the Green Lantern Corps failed with. Using the same Qwardian technology that Sinestro has been using for years, the Sinestro Corps members' rings are powered by fear, and only individuals who are capable of instilling great terror into others are selected to wear such a ring. But why stop there? For the last decade, the Korugarian has been leading his own army of ring-slingers: the Sinestro Corps, a.k.a. Mark Strong's Sinestro never had the opportunity to fully cross over to the dark side, so Green Lantern Corps shouldn't wait on making their Sinestro a villain. ![]()
